3 points to note for turbo models
Time:2021.08.11

For every car owner, turbocharging is a familiar word. Cars with turbocharging can really play a big role in power and fuel economy. Many car owners regard it as a symbol of speed and passion. The corresponding turbocharged models are also slightly more expensive in the later maintenance cost. If the owner has bad driving habits and lacks correct maintenance knowledge, turbocharging will greatly reduce the performance and service life of the vehicle.

1. High quality engine oil must be selected

At present, most of the oil burning problems are caused by the damage of the oil seal between the turbocharger and the intake pipe. The main reason for the damage of the oil seal is that the oil replacement cycle is too long or inferior oil is used, resulting in the lack of lubrication and heat dissipation of the floating turbine main shaft, which damages the oil seal and causes oil leakage.

Therefore, the turbocharger is relatively "expensive". Compared with ordinary naturally aspirated engines, it also has greater requirements for oil products. Some oil burning phenomena are mostly due to the damage of the oil seal between it and the intake pipe, because the main rotating shaft of the turbocharger adopts the floating design, and the whole main rotating shaft depends on lubricating oil for heat dissipation and lubrication. If inferior oil is used, the floating main rotating shaft of the turbine will not be lubricated and dissipated normally due to its high viscosity and poor fluidity. Choose engine oil with good oil, its oxidation resistance, wear resistance, high temperature resistance, lubrication and heat dissipation will also be better

2. Replace the oil filter and air filter in time

For models using turbine, special attention shall be paid to timely change the oil filter and air filter, and maintain the cleanliness of turbine. Generally speaking, the fit clearance between the turbocharger shaft and the shaft sleeve is very small. If the oil used is impure or the oil filter is not clean, it will cause excessive wear of the turbocharger.

Secondly, because there are a lot of impurities in the air, once the dust particles enter the high-speed operation, it will make the dust particles impact the supercharger, resulting in unstable operation of the turbine and wear. You can regularly check whether the turbocharger is damaged. The way is to listen to whether there is abnormal noise or unusual vibration, whether the sealing ring is sealed, etc.

3. Start the car slowly when it is cold, and stop the engine when it is idle when it is hot

During cold start, the lubricating effect is poor because the oil temperature is usually low and viscous, so the lubricating effect can be achieved only after the temperature rises to the normal temperature. In this process, if the turbine is forced to work at full load, it will be worn. Therefore, it is recommended to idle for 3-5 minutes or drive at low speed for a period of time before cold driving.

When stopping, it is best to idle for a while before turning off the engine, because after the turbocharger works, the temperature will be very high. After stopping the vehicle, the turbine will continue to operate for a period of time due to inertia, that is, the role of lubricating oil is still needed. If the engine is turned off immediately after stopping the vehicle, the cooling system and lubricating oil supply will also be stopped, This will damage the bearings of the vehicle. Therefore, before stalling, let the engine run for 2-3 minutes to allow enough time for the turbine to cool down( Models with automatic cycle cooling device (negligible)
